My Little Christmas Penguin

Writer's picture: ChristinaChristina

I love Christmas; I love penguins. So I made a Christmas Penguin. Out of polymer clay. I used Super Sculpey Medium blend, which is Super Sculpey Original and the Super Sculpey Firm blended together. I bought it that way, I didn't mix the two together myself.

I am not fond of the SS Original because it's too soft and I have a hard time keeping the detail I put on it, and it catches my fingerprints way too easily. The SS Firm is too firm for me. I have really bad carpel tunnel because I push myself too far with all of my arts and crafts. Lately I've been going back and forth between clay work and crochet, which both are hard on my carpel tunnel. I reached a point with my carpel tunnel hurting immensely that my Dr. told me that if I didn't let up on my crafting in some form, I would need surgery for it. So I take many, many breaks when making anything now.

So that is why I use SS Medium Blend.

Anyway! The reason I went on that tangent is because that is the clay I used for this little Christmas Penguin.

This is only my second time painting a sculpture. The lines aren't as clean as I want them to be, but that's the best I am able to do currently. I'll get better with practice.

The paints I used are Arteza Matte Paints. I absolutely LOVE Arteza paints. I don't have any of their other products, but I've seen reviews of them on YT by some of my favorite artists, and those reviews were all positive.

I really love how this little guy came out.

Sincerely,

Christina
